now and forever more
i went back to sch the other day to collect my letter frm mr azmi.. words jus cannot describe how good it felt to be back in school for that moment. being back as an old boy and seeing my juniors donning the acs uniform, the students playing ball on the astroturf.. it jus brings back lots of memories of the 6 years which I had spent there.. met mr bill chia and he has shifted to the dean's office.. promotion ehhh.. he's doing well which is expected.. he's really a good teacher and it is any student's blessing jus to have him to teach u.. yea.. i will never forget what he has taught me. it wasnt jus chem lessons.. but lessons about life, and things that you will take with you even after school where all the academics would have been forgotten.

1 YEAR SOLDIER
10 more months to go. but it feels like forever.
just a year ago before i enlisted.. i've always thought army was jus a place for young people like us to train, to keep fit and in some way or another, protect the nation. when i was still in school.. i've always thought army was a place with no stress, no exam pressure, no studying, no expectations to meet. well it only took 2 weeks for me to realise that my view of army was so wrong.. never did i expect how much shit we actually have to go through in the system. a system which is so flawed that everything is procedure.. a system where rank plays a big part.. a system where people do things just for the sake of doing it.. i wonder how we actually protect the nation by doing all these things.
my OC was talking to me the other day.. asking why i had nv attempted SOC once at all the entire 2009 while i was in 5 SIR. let me summarize our conversation.
point no. 1
what is he supposed to tell S3 that a COMMANDER has never attempted SOC once at all. so he gets into shit and is finding the person who has PERFECTLY VALID REASONS to 'talk to'.
point no. 2
he thinks that all commanders that cannot pass SOC should be treated like MEN. and until we pass SOC, we ARE MEN. period
point no. 3
he thinks that im trying to chao keng by nt doing any of his MANY SOC tests that he CONDUCTED. well.. thanks to my FRACTURED FINGER and my never ending COUGH/FLU that got me into so much discomfort and this 'talking session.'
point no. 4
as a commander, we are supposed to be fitter, to recover faster, and many other things which he said. i cant really remember.. but what he fails to realise is that WE ARE NSFs. and that one point alone. can answer to all his 'LOGIC' on how a COMMANDER should be.
if passing SOC and IPPT gold can ensure that Singapore wins a war.. then.. i have nothing to say.. i would do what he does and pump my MEN with SOC tests and IPPT until they have accomplished those targets.
